After my recent photo walk at the James S Long Regional park. Resulted in several old, and new lessons being taught again.
1st. it was a lot of fun, and great distraction therapy for both my current
physical and mental issues.
2nd. I am much more comfortable with an SLR compared to a point & shoot. I
need the view finder and cannot rely on the LCD for composition.
4th. A visit to the eye doctor is in my near future.
5th. I should not have sold my lightweight Panasonic Micro 4/3rd system. Rather
I should have scaled it back to just 2 identical bodies. Rather than 4 or
5 I had which because each had a different interface confused me, and caused me
to miss shots, and swear a lot at the kit.
5th. I am going to try and get into the habit of going for an early AM or late
afternoon photo walk more often. Perhaps once a week. There are
several excellent regional and national parks within a short drive. The
pair of Canons at the top of this page should be a good lightweight pair for
future challenges.
7th. My health is not getting any better, and though I am fighting
it (and won't stop). In addition to the heart problems there are dozens
of secondary issues troubling my life.
All of which are taking their toll upon me.
7th. There are numerous auto, and hobby shows in this area. Perhaps wear a
Canon tee shirt, take a pocket full of business cards, hang an EOS
7D MKII with a pro lens around my neck, and go for a walk. I would not be actively selling, or soliciting my
services or products, rather I would be shooting as a hobbyist. However if
someone approaches me and wants a photo terrific… I am your photographer! The worst case
scenario I can see is that I only come away with some interesting new portfolio images, and
perhaps some new friends. Last year someone
suggested I try this as a subtle way to creep back into the photo market.
Time will tell if the lines of thought I expressed in this post go nowhere, or
perhaps go somewhere. I have a thousand plus tales from both behind the photo
counter, and behind the lens (and I have no doubt that there are a 1000 plus people
fed up of hearing those tales). However I miss the photo world so much, and I want
some new adventures involving this almost 50 year old passion.
