Artemis II April 2026

Artemis and my thoughts… The other night I was preparing my dinner, and also watching the splash down and recovery operations of Artemis II on ABC News. The excitement of the spectators, reporters, and NASA personnel even through the television was almost intoxicating. It reminded me of when as a small child I watched man walk on the moon for the first time in 1969. After that we had several more lunar landings, and the almost tragic Apollo 13 when it nearly all went wrong. Every time a mission returned there was terrific excitement, and high anticipation of the next lunar exploration. Sadly, manned lunar exploration ended in December 11, 1972, when NASA astronauts Eugene Cernan, and Harrison Schmit became the last humans to walk on the moon. NASA then moved on to the Space Shuttle program, and the same excitement embraced society as shuttle flight after shuttle flight completed their missions. A Rubber Shark Attack.

Th e Rubber Shark. Many of you know this tale, but many of you do not. In the late 1990s I worked at a camera store in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina called Sunshine Cameras. The owner who was known for his "slick salesmanship" ordered some expired underwater disposable cameras. At first he was going to put them out without any warning, but I convinced him to let me take some shots with one in my parent's jacuzzi. So I visited a dollar beach shop on my way there, and purchased a rubber shark. The shots came out pretty good, and we sold 100s of them, so much so we ordered even more for the summer season. Then one day a gentleman came in, and started studying the images of the shark and proceeded to give us a lecture. The fellow was full of himself describing how the diver was in imminent danger of attack, and he could tell by the positioning of the fins, and the gills. Through it all we kept trying to interrupt him, but no such luck, he just kept babbling on and on. Final...

Weird dreams and coincidences... - The Twilight Zone

That was a bit weird... The other night I woke up after dreaming I was the main character "Rocky Valentine" in an old twilight zone episode titled "A Nice Place to Visit". Mr Valentine is a ruthless self serving bad guy who robs jewelry stores, hurts people, and finally gets shot by the police. He then wakes up, and encounters his "guide" Mr Pip who grants his every wish. Jump to the end, and it turns out that he is not in heaven as he originally believes, but "the other place". And he realizes, as Mr Pip begins to laugh, that his eternal fate will be his dreams come true. I would like to think Mr Valentine he is the complete opposite of who I am, and the persona I attempt to portray. Okay now it gets really weird. Then as I couldn't get back to sleep I got up, and sat in my chair to watch some tele. As I am surfing I noticed the Twilight Zone on Paramount.
