The last meal of the day...
In some parts of the UK we have something called "supper", which typically refers to a light meal just before bed. I have also heard this referred to as the "Last Meal of the Day..." Confusingly many, especially both in the UK and the US also refer to dinner as supper.
Not that I have studied what a meal makes “supper” in depth, because I have not. However, over the years I think I have heard at least 1000 variations of the English supper. Anything from fresh Sushi, to a small vegetable and/or fruit salad. In my family as a young kid supper consisted of biscuits (cookies in the US) and with either a cup of tea, or a glass of milk. In later years this evolved to cheese and crackers.
On a whim this morning (May16,2026) I decided to indulge and have a supper reminiscent of my late Dad. A cup of hot tea with Milk & Sugar, Milton Multigrain Crackers, with Strawberry, and Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese spread. A delicious and relaxing way to end my day while reading a book for an hour, and waiting for my cardio meds to kick in.
